We are seeking Commissioning Authority Engineers to join our dynamic team. Who will thrive in a Opportunity The Hinkley Point C (HPC) Commissioning Team is expanding in preparation for the commissioning of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the first nuclear power station to be built in a generation. In this role, you will be working in a diverse environment and contribute your knowledge and skills to oversee others in the preparation and execution of commissioning activities and work collaboratively with other areas, teams, and programmes. You will collaborate closely with the Commissioning Delivery Team and other areas of the project including technical and oversight functions. Together, you will develop a comprehensive set of controls which will form an integral part of the HPC Commissioning Arrangements. Building strong collaborative relationships with the safety case team, contractors, the HPC project delivery team, site engineering, and the plant operational organisation will be crucial in ensuring well-defined and controlled interfaces with the commissioning process.,

  • Develop commissioning documentation relating to the governance and oversight of commissioning testing and system validation activities.
  • Contribute to the smooth running of project through the development and oversight of the governance processes required to enable the safe and controlled progress of commissioning.
  • Assist in the detailed planning of commissioning authority activities including commissioning phases.
  • Assist in the smooth running of the authorisation of site commissioning activities including oversight of the commissioning organisation to achieve successful and safe commissioning of HPC systems.
  • Provide information to assist the Commissioning Manager and Senior Commissioning Manager in meeting project-level objectives and milestones.
  • Participate in the review of issues and arrangements to ensure that the commissioning programme can continue to manage risks effectively.
  • Ensure that the commissioning process adheres to nuclear, environmental, and industrial safety regulatory requirements, incorporating international best practices in safety and technical excellence.

    As a Commissioning Authority Engineer, you'll have some knowledge/experience in a highly regulated industry such as Nuclear Generation, Oil & Gas, or other heavy/manufacturing industries.
  • Your enthusiasm and drive for continuous improvement will be a valued part of the Commissioning team and HPC.
  • Hold a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Technical background in industrial, power generation or process engineering.
  • Collaborates well in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and adapt to unexpected changes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to innovate, think laterally and implement processes.
  • Possesses a growth mindset and demonstrates resilience in learning from setbacks.
  • Proficient oral and written communications skills with ability to convey complex information at all levels of stakeholders, contractors, departments, and the project.
  • Your background may include some of the following:
  • Knowledge of Integrated Management Systems particularly in a project environment
  • Experience in the management and oversight of commissioning, maintenance and/or operations.
  • Experience in an assurance, governance, or regulatory compliance role.
  • Full membership (or working towards full membership) in an internationally recognised engineering body or other relevant professional body
