At Blackburn with Darwen Council, our size is our strength. Working for a small borough means close interaction with other members of our leadership team, partners and local services. We keep abreast of new developments and our size means we can mobilise and implement change at pace. We maintain a person-centred perspective to our working arrangements and strive to ensure that our employees maintain a good work-life balance with flexible and agile working arrangements. Our vision is to develop and retain high performing, motivated teams and to ensure that our offer of continuous professional development makes Blackburn with Darwen Council an attractive place for people to work.

Blackburn with Darwen is an ambitious borough with a proud sense of place and a strong identity. We are a unitary authority, and we provide the best opportunities for our residents, investing in employment and housing, developing our physical environment, town centres and cultural offer, and empowering people to thrive. Good partner relationships and our positive 'can do' approach means that we deliver for our communities. Our people services have a proud record of achievement in supporting adults, children and communities in the borough. We do this by promoting independence, health, wellbeing and through safeguarding from harm.

We have recently undertaken a major review of our commissioning function, and our new structure is aligned with a life-course approach and includes strategic and operational commissioning elements. We have secured significant investment to expand the commissioning function, and this is an exciting time to join and shape our developing team. Our approach to commissioning recognises that people do not live their lives in neat boxes and therefore the way that we commission should not either. Our Start Well, Live Well and Age Well structure will maximise the opportunities for commissioning services which provide the best possible experiences for people, including for those people with complex and/ or multiple needs or those moving through different stages of their lives.

You'll be joining us at a time of transition to a new team structure, and this brings plenty of exciting opportunities for collaborative individuals to help shape our future team and ways of working.
