Full Job Description

  • To manage the Weapons Test Section to deliver all tasks as per the Test & Commissioning programme & schedule
  • To ensure all elements required to deliver the Test & Commissioning plan are enabled
  • Support the development and delivery of the Test & Commissioning strategy and ways of working
  • Promote opportunities within the team to enhance a learning and development culture across multiple contracts
  • Support development of an organisational structure that keeps pace with changing workloads to ensure Test & Commissioning is ready to deliver its full scope of requirements.
  • Manage individuals within their team while developing them to ensure the correct level of SQEP (suitably qualified experienced person) is available and capable to deliver the Test & Commissioning scope of work
  • Promote a safe working environment for the team, ensuring all relevant processes are up to date and followed, The Weapons Commissioning Manager will manage, control & monitor the test section to meet the Boat Commissioning Plan, responsible for a large group of Commissioning Engineers of various levels & disciplines, offering a broad range of technical skill & knowledge to lead and deliver the programme. The Weapons Commissioning Manager reports directly to the Boat Commissioning Manager and ensures the safe delivery of the Propulsion Commissioning line to meet all key events and objectives.

    Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Hydraulics, control & Instrumentation, air systems etc. (Weapons)Systems environment incorporating testing and commissioning experience (preferably from an armed forces/submarine background)
  • Experience in managing people
  • Experience in managing delivery of plans and schedules
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, SAP or equivalent toolsets advantageous

    The Weapons Commissioning team is led by the propulsion Commissioning Manager, supported by a number of Commissioning Project Leaders of both Mechanical & Electrical backgrounds and a range of Commissioning Engineers.
