Full Job Description
As a Commissioning Officer within the Children's Placement Team, you will assist supported accommodation providers to reach and maintain the required Ofsted standards, improve service delivery and provision of those services commissioned for children and young people living in South Gloucestershire. The Children and Young People's Commissioning team have specific responsibility for the procurement and commissioning of a range of services for children and young people and their families including services for children in care. What you will be doing:
- In this newly created role, you will establish a quality assurance and monitoring framework to ensure that all supported accommodation providers are maintaining and improving standards and the delivery of services for young people.
- Working with supported accommodation providers across the region, you will assist them with Ofsted registration to ensure they are at the required standard to become registered.
- Daily, you will be dealing with concerns, issues and celebrating and sharing good practice across the sector, supporting the quality assurance of all the services we commission.
- When required, you will co-ordinate and administer the start of the service by liaising with care providers and securing the most appropriate placements for children and young people.
- It will be your responsibility to implement and monitor contracts, process invoices and contribute to project planning, partnership working and the development of commissioning plans.
- Working with colleagues, partners and people who use the services, you will ensure they meet our strategic commitments.
Given the elements of the role, you will able to demonstrate a flexible approach to working across different areas and have gained relevant knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that commissions and contracts in social care or similar services. - You will have demonstrable experience of meeting service standards, targets and deadlines, and the ability to manage competing demands.
- It would be desirable for you to have working knowledge of the 16+ supported accommodation market or housing related support services, although this is not essential.
- You will be liaising with a variety of stakeholders and customers, so you need to have excellent interpersonal skills to establish positive relationships.
- A degree or professional qualification in social care, health care or business studies is desirable.
- Although based in Yate, the team work predominantly from home and there will be a requirement to work throughout the region visiting provision.
