Full Job Description

As a Communication Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Using your developed skills in systems design, you'll develop radio frequency technologies. From high frequency beyond line of site communications, which allow up-to-date tactical pictures of the battlespaces to be shared to allow our armed forces to make better decisions, to SW, HW, and much more. Day-to-day, within the design team, you'll support engineering and system design delivery, collaborating with SMEs and Lead Communication Engineers, and contribute to requirements management, justification, and decomposition.

  • Generate detailed specifications, designs and other technical deliverables.
  • Support Operational Engineering teams with in-service systems, troubleshooting technical faults and problem management.
  • Support the development, building, test and trialling of solutions and participating in Validation, Verification, Test and Acceptance activities.
  • This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home. Typically, once a month there will be a requirement to go to neighbouring Babcock sites such as Bristol, Harrogate, or Corsham. Flexibility requirements can be discussed with the hiring manager separately.

  • System development and/or application of engineering change experience
  • Awareness in application of Baseband technologies, Ideally, you will have either a degree or HNC/HND or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering., The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
