  • Westminster, There is no greater mission than keeping the public safe. This communications role is integral to the success of the Metropolitan Police Service. Our communities and police officers depend on excellent communication and engagement.

    In this role, you will provide full, effective, and timely media, digital, campaigns, marketing and internal activity planning advice and support. This will involve advising on all aspects of scheduling, timing, and broader presentation of the Met's key activity.

    You will be a member of the Communication and Engagement teams responsible for delivering external and internal communications under the priorities set out in A New Met for London, our blueprint for delivering a different way of policing for the capital.

    The Met's communication team is undergoing a significant restructure, and you will be part of this change, supporting colleagues to deliver.

    Key Result Areas
  • Leading on the day-to-day planning and co-ordination of the Met's communication and engagement activity.


  • Working with strategy, campaigns and marketing, media, and internal communications colleagues to co-ordinate strategic communications activity.


  • Establishing, developing, and nurturing relationships across the Met to deliver effective planning and scheduling of communication activity.


  • Supporting senior members of the team to ensure we prioritise effectively and deliver on the organisation's key workstreams.


  • Attending, participating in, and chairing regular meetings across the Met, to enable effective communications planning.


  • Developing proactive ideas and opportunities to deliver the Met's priorities as well as spotting risks and reputational issues that need to be escalated.


  • Working closely with communications colleagues to highlight opportunities to deliver projects that reach diverse audiences, including harder to reach communities.

    Metropolitan Police United Kingdom

    The starting salary is £45,073, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.


  • The salary is broken down as £42,232 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £50,385 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
