Full Job Description

Working as part of the wider Communications and Engagement team, the Communications Assistant will be required to demonstrate a wide range of communications administration skills and be an exceptional team player.

  • Lead on administrative tasks on behalf of the Communications and Engagement team.

  • Support the Communications Team with the management of the Communications inbox - triaging enquiries and actioning requests when appropriate. To deal effectively with queries, some of them complex, ensuring a prompt, accurate and polite response, acting on own initiative and deciding appropriate action as necessary.

  • Supporting the team to monitor media coverage, social media, contacts databases and distribution lists.

  • Support with videography and photography.

  • Administration
  • Develop administrative processes to support the Communications and Engagement team.

  • Support the team with procurement administration, placing orders in line with Trust finance procedures.

  • Ensure all incoming and outgoing post is processed promptly.


  • Communications
  • Manage the administration of media enquiries, and ensure that all enquiries are logged and responded to within deadlines, including FOI responses

  • Help maintain press release files, distribution lists and contact databases.

  • Support the team with internal and external communications, gathering and uploading content and to the Trust's intranet and external website.

  • Support the co-ordination of the day-to-day use of Trust social media channels.

  • Support with making changes an updates to the Trust's digital platforms including the corporate website and intranet.

  • Support with communications tasks and projects such as writing stories and drafting social media content.

  • Lead on the day-to-day management of the Communications Inbox. Deal effectively with queries, some of them complex, ensuring a prompt, accurate and polite response, acting on own initiative and deciding appropriate action as necessary.


  • Events
  • Provide administrative support for the planning and management of key corporate events, including managing invitation lists, liaising with attendees and handling correspondence.

  • Support the delivery of the Trust's annual Staff Awards event including administrative support during the nomination process, organising registration materials, raising orders and other appropriate tasks.
