Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to take up a varied role within a team which values the candidate's contributions and provides opportunities to develop skills as part of the wider Department of Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment.

Your main duties will include:

Proactive media relations and news generation to create a constant flow of stories
Print, digital and social media content creation and commissioning to be used on the University's many platforms including website, blog, social media and to share externally with stakeholders and the media
Work with academics and thought leaders to raise the profile of their research, knowledge exchange, partnerships and the University as a whole

Experience of writing with impeccable English and creating content for a variety of audiences
Experience of interpreting complex information for non-expert audiences
Experience of working in a busy communications role, with an ability to juggle and appropriately prioritise a variety of projects in line with team priorities and deadlines
Ability to build relationships with journalists, key influencers and stakeholders
Ability to use tools such as digital and social platforms to communicate effectively, including hands-on creation of assets such as written copy, video and photography, Disability Confident
