Full Job Description

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and motivated communicator to join the Science Communications & Engagement team at RBG Kew.
In this role you will deliver and shape the internal communications network that fosters connections between a vibrant, diverse science directorate of ~530 staff, based across a range of different disciplines and geographic locations. You will also craft content for our external communications portfolio that supports the incredible research taking place at Kew and contributes to Kew’s scientific reputation on the world stage., Bringing your passion for information sharing and team working, combined with your knowledge of scientific research and communications to the team, you will improve the connectivity of our multidisciplinary Science Directorate through the coordination, delivery and evaluation of our Directorate’s internal communications. This includes regular seminar series, internal bulletins, an organisational intranet, and other opportunities to develop connections and foster engagement within the directorate and across the organisation.
You will also utilise your skills in content creation and social media management to support the Science Communications team as we promote Kew’s scientific research across our external channels and maintain an up-to-date calendar of scheduled material and opportunities. Success here will see you develop communications outputs that bring real impact for Kew in the delivery of our Science Strategy, our Manifesto for Change, and our overall mission to understand and protect plants and fungi for the well-being of people and the future of all life on Earth.

Person specification
You will work on internal and external communications outputs that reflect the incredible diversity of Kew’s research, the species and ecosystems under its care, and the people that make up Kew and its many partners.
This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.
Interviews are due to take place in October, and there is a provisional start date of 18th November.

Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check.
People working with government assets must complete baseline personnel security standard (opens in new window) checks.
