Full Job Description

Reporting to the Regional Community Investment Manager, the purpose of this role is to engage, support, and empower communities experiencing multiple barriers. The work of this post holder will shape local plans to build appropriate infrastructure to address local inequalities. The post holder will work with internal and external colleagues to ensure that community needs are fully addressed utilising relevant specialist support and baseline data to inform the development of success measures in each local area. The post holder will have responsibility for work across Derby including developing a range of services to support the establishment of a small community hub. The role will be based on Derby and there is an option to work from both Derby and at our main office in Beeston. Contractually your location base will be Waterfront House, Nottingham, NG9 1LA.

We are seeking an individual with a strong background in community development who can build trust and empower local communities to thrive. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in Community Development: Proven ability to engage with and support communities facing various challenges.
  • Excellent Communication and Facilitation Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and facilitate discussions within the community.
  • Community-Based Delivery Experience: Hands-on experience in creating and delivering community programmes and initiatives that are resident-led.
  • Meeting the Needs of MTVH Residents: A track record of providing coordinated services that address multiple issues faced by residents, particularly those in social housing.
  • Funding and Partnership Development: Experience in developing funding proposals, commissioning partners, and utilising insights to inform their work and drive outcomes.
  • Agility and Flexibility: Ability to adapt and travel as needed to address community investment opportunities within Derby.
  • Values-Driven Approach: A strong commitment to making a difference for residents and communities, bringing enthusiasm and passion to the role.
  • 'Can-Do' Attitude: A proactive mindset that embraces challenges and seeks solutions.
  • Understanding of Diverse Communities: Experience working with a diverse customer base and a clear understanding of the barriers to engagement.
  • Community Development Qualification: Completion of a community development qualification will be required as part of your probationary period.
  • Experience Working with or Supporting Volunteers: Familiarity with volunteer engagement and support.
