Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Dietetic service across the Borough of Waltham Forest while working within the Nutrition & Dietetic team. The post holder will be able to consolidate and gain wider experience in a range of services including nutrition support, diabetes, health promotion and also mentor students within NELFT. Newly qualified Dietitians will be fully supported via individual supervision sessions, adult team meetings and the NELFT preceptorship programme which lasts between 9 -12 months.

  • The candidate must have the following;
  • HCPC registration
  • Recognised Dietetic degree qualification or equivalent.
  • Clinical knowledge & experience across a variety of disease states and dietetic therapies.

Main duties of the job Effective organisational skills- to be able to prioritise and manage own workload within time and financial constraints The main responsibilities of the post : To be part of the Nutrition & Dietetic team, providing a service across the Borough of Waltham Forest and NELFT. To provide high standard nutrition and dietetic assessments, individual treatment programmes and to maintain timely and accurate health information notes. To be involved in the review and production of care pathways, literature and making presentations to different audiences. To contribute to departmental activities such as audits, maintenance of online resource hub and research to further own and teams clinical practice. Working for our organisation Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

  • Degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
  • Registered as a Dietitian with the Health Professions Council
  • Membership of the British Dietetics Association and specialist group
  • Desirable criteria Post graduate teaching & training in cognitive behavioural therapy, further education. Clinical supervisory skills, ECDL. Experience Essential criteria
  • Pre-registration experience in relevant clinical settings.
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Desirable criteria Experience of audit / research. Knowledge Essential criteria Developing knowledge of current best practice in Nutrition & Dietetics. Skills Essential criteria
  • Basic awareness of IT and IT skills
  • Understand legal responsibilities of the profession and the associated code of ethics.
  • Ability to present information both orally and written in a clear and logical manner.
