This is an exciting opportunity to join Lewisham Personality Disorders service.This roleprovidestraining and development,suitable forsomeone withan interest in this patient group wholikes working as part of a team.The job is split betweenfacilitatingand supporting the SUN crisis and supportgroups, andworking as an MBT therapist. In terms of career progression, it will enhance your intervention skills working therapeutically with personality disorder or other mental health difficulties in collaboration with other teammembers. Youwill achieve SUN lead facilitatorcompetencies, andreceive accredited training in MBT. If you are Band 6, upon completion of MBT-therapist training (which we would provide) an accreditation, you would move to Band 7. If you are alreadyaccreditedyou would start on Band 7. TheSUNproject involves patients attending a weekly group which focuses ondevelopingcoping-skillsand buildscapacityto managecrisesincluding crisis planning.These arestructured 2.5-hour groups. People refer themselves and do not need to be in contact with SLaM.Memberscan attend as many or as few groups as they wish.There areSUN groups on Mondays,Wednesdaysand Fridays.Oneor twogroups areon-line.We are consideringanevening or weekend SUN group.Your role would includeworking closely with our SUN lead to organise and support SUN, as well as learning to leadfacilitateSUN groups. Theotherkeypart of your job would be delivering individual and group mentalisation based therapy as part of our MBT team. We would support you in learning MBT. You wouldalsobe involved in otheractivitieswhich could includeevaluationeg focus groups,assistingwith gathering outcome data, record keeping, andthe possibility of some individual support workwithclients in the service. Aboutus The serviceis forpeople with a disorder.There are11wte clinicians:psychologists, psychotherapist,psychiatrist,occupationaltherapist(SUN lead),and employment worker.We aimtohelp our patients todevelop toimprove mental well-being,social and occupational functioning,increase theirstability andqualifyof life, reducetheuse of emergency services andhospitaladmissions. The serviceprovidesMentalisation Based Treatment (MBT) and Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP), andsupports theCMHTsintheir work. Lewisham is one of four main boroughs inSLaM. Ita multicultural,multi-ethic borough,containingdeprived and well-off areas. 1. Work alongside other staff toassistin delivering SUN groups online and in the community to:

  • reduce the number of crises that require urgent and unplanned responses from services;
  • Improve coping skills of SUN members
  • Facilitate access to other services and sources of support.
  • To encourage people to take an active role in their recovery
  • To promote independence
  • 1. Assistin the promotion of SUN byhelping coordinate SUN,liaison work such asattending meetings, doing presentations to people who access services,staffand otherorganisations. 1. To deliver Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) in individual and group therapy with accredited MBT training and weekly supervisionprovided.. 1. Ensure that potentialrisk is being assessed within a culture of positive risk taking and report concerns in line with Risk Management Policy. 1. Contribute to evaluating theSUN project 1. Keep up-to-date documentation and administration. 1. Comply withpolicies,proceduresand guidelines. 1. Undertake other relevant duties asrequested.
