An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Team Leader and we are looking for a dynamic, passionate and innovative individual to lead this service for women at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust. Could this be the role for you?

This role requires the post holder to promote a holistic high quality Maternity service that advocates pregnancy and birth as a normal physiological event. The postholder will have the responsibility to lead the community midwifery team in the provision of woman centred care, working under the direction and collaboratively with the Community Matron. Practicing in accordance to best practice informed by NICE and Better Births 2016, National Maternity report and the National Transformation programme 2016, helping to imbed initiatives such as 'Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle' also to support collaboration work within the regions STP footprint and CQC recommendations. The role encompasses the responsibility for direct line management of all staff supporting/coaching staff in problem solving and decision making, ensuring the clinical environment is safe and practitioners provide evidenced based high quality maternity care, a responsibility to facilitate learning for all staff, ensuring that
the clinical areas provide experience that is conducive to formal learning. Provide midwifery care in accordance in the NMC midwives Standards and Codes of Professional conduct., The community service care for women from various geographical locations that include a higher than average population from ethnic minority backgrounds and will include areas of social deprivation.

You will need to have excellent leadership skills to support the team to deliver high quality care and open to embracing positive change and transformation in order to meet the needs of the women in the local population. You will support women choosing to birth within an acute obstetric led unit, at home or in our co-located birth suite, embracing our plans to improve our provision of continuity of care.

You should be an enthusiastic, confident clinical practitioner with experience in various midwifery settings, ideally within the community but not essential. Your ability to influence others will be integral to this role.
