Are you an innovative, creative, motivated caring professional who is looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity to join our well-established Intellectual Disability (ID) CAMHS service. As a Learning Disability / Mental Health Nurse you will act as a Care Coordinator for a dedicated caseload of patients who may be presenting with behaviours that challenge and / or significant mental health needs. You would provide person centred, evidence-based, targeted interventions to support the child, their parents / carers and the multi-agency team. You will be provided with regular clinical and peer supervision. The team work collaboratively, you will have the support and opportunity to develop your own skills and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Learning Disability / Mental Health Nurse role is a Full Time permanent position within the pan-Dorset ID CAMHS service. The role will involve working across the two sites in Dorset - Southbourne and Dorchester, with your base of work being in Seascape, Southbourne. You will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car as you will be required to review and monitor patients in their own homes and within other community settings. Opportunities for flexible working are available as long as the service needs are met. Main duties of the job You will work closely within our Multi-Disciplinary Team that consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Worker, Family Therapist, Clinical Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapist, Psychological Therapists and Support Workers. There are significant opportunities to work with our multi-agency partners. To provide support and work directly with people with intellectual disabilities intheir home, and schools. To work as a member of the Pan Dorset ID CAMHS team in the assessment of all children with an intellectual disability, to plan and implement appropriate programmes of care to meet individual needs and to modify inappropriate behaviours. To work with the individual, their carers, and members of the multi professional team in the formulation, implementation and review of a person-centred care and support plan. This will include risk assessments and management plans. To support a wide range of staff who work in social services and the independent sector providing clinical expertise and advice in aspects of behaviour, mental health and learning disability raising their awareness to ensure they meet the specific needs of the service user. To ensure safeguarding is a central element of their role, attend safeguarding supervision and training, address safeguarding concerns with safeguarding leads and to record safeguarding concerns on electronic patient records., For the main duties and responsibilities for this role please read the attached job description and person specification. - Registered Nurse RNLD or RMN
- Further evidence of professional development and training for CPD Desirable
- ENB 998 / Learning and assessing in clinical practice or equivalent teaching / mentoring qualification Experience Essential
- Experience of working at a band 5
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding
- Ability to work well in a multi-agency team
- Ability to manage time and conflicting demands and prioritise workload accordingly
- Ability to assess, develop, plan and evaluate programmes of care. Desirable
