So if you want be a part of this, we would love to hear from you., We are looking for a community phlebotomist to work 20 hours a week from Monday to Friday. The shifts are 4 hours each and although we can be flexible on the start time, we would expect your 4-hour shift to have finished by 1pm each day. There is no requirement to work weekends or public holidays.
The role involves providing an efficient and effective venous blood sample collection for individuals aged 18 and over in their own homes or residential care settings across the Medway towns, treating our patients with courtesy and respect.
You will need to have access to a vehicle for work purposes to be able to carry out your visits in a timely manner., + To provide an efficient and effective venous blood sample to individuals in their own or residential settings within the Medway Towns
+ The team phlebotomist will work within a community or neighbourhood nursing team across multiple locations throughout the Medway towns. This role will perform venous blood sample collection to service users from the age of 18 years and above., + Able to perform venous blood sampling collection to organisational and health and safety standards.
+ Good hand/ eye coordination and manual dexterity for performing physical tests on patients
+ Standard keyboard skills
+ Use standard office equipment e.g. fax, photocopier
6. Responsibility for patient / client care
+ Provide clinical advice within scope of practice and information to patients, carers, relatives or staff face to face, over the telephone or by other means.
+ Consistently treat others with courtesy and respect
7. Responsibility for policy and service development implementation
+ Responsible for ensuring that the organisational policies and procedures (including amendments and updates) are adhered to and implanted in own are of work.
8. Responsibilities for financial and physical resources
+ Manage stock / office stationery
+ Maybe required to issue / take responsibility for equipment used by self and others
9. Responsibilities for human resources (HR)
+ Act as a buddy demonstrating own are of work to new or less experienced employees such as apprentices or volunteers.
+ Willingness and ability to provide peer supervision, observation and support
10. Responsibilities for information resources
+ Accurately enter data / process information utilising appropriate IT systems
+ Transcribing / copy typing information provided by others
+ Management of information either electronic or paper based
11. Responsibilities for research and development (R&D)
+ Will be required to undertake surveys and audits when requested in own area of work.
12. Freedom to act
+ Plan and organise own workload without direct supervision, reporting regularly to senior on key tasks and guided by defined policies and procedures.

1. Communication and relationship skills
+ To be able to use various methods of communications namely verbal, non-verbal and IT competently.
+ To communicate in a skilled and effective manner with patients, carers and colleagues
+ To have excellent team working skills and to be able to work in partnership with other healthcare professionals
+ To be able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity and good interpersonal skills
+ To be able to communicate effectively with patients who may have communication difficulties namely, speech impairments, deaf, blind and patients who do not have English as their first language.
+ To be flexible, reliable and organised
+ To communicate effectively with external agencies
2. Knowledge, training and experience
+ Educated to NVQ level 2 or equivalent
+ Successful completion of in-house training including practical training
+ Good clerical and organisational skills
+ Good IT skill
3. Analytical and judgement skills
+ Make judgement involving facts / situations sometimes requiring analysis of information
+ Provide workload and make appropriate level decisions such as when to escalate and ensure this is done in a timely manner. E.g. queries from patients and carers.
4. Planning and organisational skills
+ Organise and prioritise preparation, running and closure of clinics.
+ Work flexibly to maintain cover within the service / organisation.
+ Maintain effective systems to ensure the service operates efficiently.
