Join our dedicated and friendly Community Phlebotomy Service, where you will have the opportunity to provide compassionate care to patients both in their homes and community clinics. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and are seeking motivated Community Phlebotomists to support the teams based in Knowsley, Liverpool or Sefton. The successful candidates must be willing to travel to work at other sites / geographical areas if needed. Various posts are available, we offer full and part time posts in our Liverpool team, Knowsley team and Sefton team with a minimum of 18.75hours per week. We are unable to guarantee set days in our service. If you would like further support or guidance, please contact the following email addressapplicant.support@merseycare.nhs.uk The post holder is expected to work effectively as a team member of the community phlebotomy service, ensuring a reliable, responsive and quality blood collection service. 1. To actively participate and contribute to team working in response to service developments and the business plan. 2. Work within the community (e.g., within a patients' own home) as a lone practitioner with telephone support. Seek advice and support from a more senior colleague for matters outside sphere of responsibility, knowledge, or skills. 3. Work independently in a busy clinic environment ensuring that patients receive blood tests on time and manage patient flow. 4. Obtain informed consent from the patient to treatment and the sharing of information, documenting in accordance with Trust procedures. 5. Use IT system to document outcome of appointment.   • To take blood samples from patients referred into the service in a variety of settings and venues across the boroughs of Knowsley, Liverpool or Sefton.
  • To ensure that all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.
  • To keep an adequate supply of essential equipment for clinics and domiciliary visits to ensure service delivery.
  • To work in line with the infection prevention and control policy.
  • To maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times.
  • Maintain high level of competency in all required clinical techniques.
  • Ensure specimens are appropriately prepared prior to being collected, for example accurately labelled and in correct sample bottles.
