Full Job Description
You will be responsible for providing ongoing development planning of the installation in support of the mission. You will ensure compatibility between on and off installation development and land use. Planning, programming, budgeting, and executing required projects in support of assigned programs. You will also collect data and evaluate factors which affect the physical development of an installation. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule Mon-Fri 0800-1600 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
Community Planner - If you are a dedicated and skilled Community Planner with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAF Lakenheath. We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in planning, designing and organizing spaces and systems that promote the well-being of the community., You will show professional knowledge of community planning concepts, principles, theories, regulations, and methods to identify community needs and develop and maintain an installation master (development) plan and supporting programs. You will demonstrate knowledge to gather, assemble, and analyze facts; draw conclusions; devise solutions to problems that are conventional in nature; and identify changes and trends, as well as knowledge of automated systems and programs such as CADD, GIS, project tracking, and other software programs. You will have knowledge of budget requirements for the program for current and out-years in compliance with the Anti-Deficiency Act. You will have skill in defining project requirements and managing projects to completion within a contract schedule, budget, and scope, and ability to relate the effect of community planning decisions on the mission and goals of the installation to persuade, motivate, and deal diplomatically with people. Qualification requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Community planning or related field such as urban affairs, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, sociology, geography, economics, political science, or public administration together with 3 years of progressively higherlevel graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 1 year of specialized experience related to the position.
- OR Combination of education and experience together with 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 1 year of specialized experience related to the position. Certificates must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The 0020 series has positive education/experience requirements lAW OPM GS Qualification Standards. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
