As a Community Podiatrist you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills both with podiatry colleagues, patients and the wider members of the healthcare team with whom we work, e.g. GPs, district nurses, MDTs. You will work on your own as well as part of a team. We value people who can put forward new ideas for service improvement and use their initiative with a real 'can do' attitude. In East Dorset, our team provides a range of podiatry services focusing mainly on routine community clinics, addressing the foot needs of a variety of conditions including diabetes, rheumatology and mental health.

This is a great opportunity for a newly or recently qualified podiatrist who is looking to develop their clinical skills.

The Community Podiatry role is a full-time12-month fixed term / secondmentposition. We would also welcome part time applicants with a minimum of 30 hours. Our core working hours are 8.30 - 4.30 and it is essential that Fridays are covered. We can be flexible with start time and finish time which can be discussed further at interview.

This is a fixed term role and for those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only. Please obtain permission to be released on a secondment before submitting an application.

Applications from candidates that require current Skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible to apply for this position.

The service aims to provide general footcare, basic chairside orthoses solutions and education to patients with a view to resolving foot problems and pain and facilitating and supporting self-care.

There will also be a chance to work in and develop skills in our community based high risk clinics treating ulcerated patients with rotation into the hospital based MDT diabetic foot clinic.

Alongside our community podiatry service Dorset HealthCare provides community and hospital diabetic foot care services, rheumatology, MSK and biomechanics clinics.

As a Community Podiatrist based in the East Dorset Locality Team your work will be focused mainly in the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole areas however occasional travel across the county to cover clinics will be required. It is essential that you are (or due to be) HCPC registered, are able to work flexibly and are a car driver with access to a car for work purposes.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
