Full Job Description

This is an exciting time as we continue to develop the Perinatal Community Mental health team in North Cumbria. The Perinatal Mental Health Service is a growing specialist service for women with mental health problems who are thinking of becoming pregnant, are already pregnant or have given birth in the last 12 months., The post holder will be responsible for the co- ordination of care needs, assessment, planning and implementation of evidenced based care to a defined group of service users and their carers within the service catchment area whilst under the guidance of senior staff. The post holder will provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multi disciplinary team.

This is a countywide based post providing individualised assessment and care to women whose pregnancy or postnatal period is complicated by serious mental illness which reflects the trusts policy to engage service users and their carers in all aspects of their care and treatment.

You will need to be an experienced Mental Health Practitioner (we are inviting applications from a range of professional backgrounds) with a real passion for perinatal mental health. Experience in this field is not essential and full induction is offered, but you will required to develop a career in this area.

You should have attained a level of experience proportionate to the competencies detailed in the job description, possess the skills as detailed in the person specification and be able to work autonomously and with partner agencies. We are looking for a compassionate practitioner who wants to make a difference to families and the ongoing development of the service. Training will be provided and you will have an induction when you start.

We aim to attract and retain a diverse, talented and committed workforce, who are caring and compassionate, and therefore able to meet the demands of the modern NHS now and in the future. In return we can offer a dynamic working environment in which to build a career.
