Full Job Description

Five Acre Wood School is seeking to appoint a Community Radio Station Manager to work with our students and volunteers. This role will be based at the Maidstone Community Centre.
The role is for 35 hours per week, full time for a fixed term of 12 months initially, then reviewed (hours can be flexible).
The candidate must be highly organised, a good team player, proactive and have a proven track record in community radio or a closely related field. A strong working knowledge of broadcasting, radio production and techniques with strong interpersonal skills including the ability to network, liaise and negotiate with other local groups and agencies and be able to form positive working relationships with staff volunteers and organisations is essential. Experience of working with individuals with special needs is also desirable., To lead the Maidstone Radio FAW All project, through the creation of engaging programming, managing volunteers and delivery of inclusive opportunities that reflect the needs and interests of the Maidstone community. In this role, you will have a particular focus on creating a welcoming and supportive environment for vulnerable people who want to participate in radio, including children and young people with Profound, Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
The Project Role and Principal Accountabilities:
Create a programme of engaging community radio programming, from lively discussions to captivating local music, you'll ensure our content empowers and entertains. Organise public events and initiatives that bring people together and strengthen our community ties. Oversee daily operations, to maintain a smooth workflow and a positive team environment. Support grant bids, fundraising opportunities and proactively identify and generate potential new revenue streams to secure financial resources for the station's continued growth and development. Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to develop and expand the radio station's reach. Manage and guide our volunteer presenters, helping them hone their skills and share their stories. Develop training programmes, workshops and mentorship opportunities to cultivate the talent of our volunteer presenters and pupils, fostering a new generation of voices on the airwaves.

Five Acre Wood is a successful outward looking and expanding Special School based over 4 sites in and around Maidstone, Kent. We are one of the largest special schools in the country with over 800 pupils on roll aged 2-19 years with profound, severe and complex needs.
