CDDFT Community Respiratory Nursing Service is pleased to advertise this exciting opportunity for a 0.8 wte Community Respiratory Specialist Nurse working across the South service including Durham Dales, Sedgefield and Darlington localities. The successful postholder will deliver respiratory care to respiratory patients including COPD, Emphysema, Asthma, Bronchiectasis, and Interstitial Lung Disease, in out-patient clinics as well as in their own homes, supporting the community specialist respiratory nursing service. The successful candidate will utilise their outstanding organisation and communication skills to achieve best patient outcomes whilst being well supported by expert respiratory sepcialists to develop a range of competencies in delivering excellent respiratory care and support for this group of complex patients. This post offers flexible working, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 6pm and nominal base is Innovation House, Bishop Auckland.,

  • Undertake specialist, holistic, assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical care for a caseload of patients with complex respiratory disease.
  • Be knowledgeable in respiratory disease, pathophysiology, function and management.
  • Provide specialist advice to patients/carers.
  • Be skilled in diagnostics including diagnostic spirometry and oxygen assessment, review and prescribing.
  • Act as an accountable practitioner.
  • Maintain accurate records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Act as point of contact for the wider local community teams.
  • Provide education, mentorship and leadership for junior colleagues and students.
  • Skilled at assessing and managing risk.
  • Accepts the responsibility for decisions made and actions taken.
  • No requirement to manage/monitor budget.

  • You must be able to produce ALL certificates stated essential in the person specification or you will not be able to complete pre-employment checks We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
