Full Job Description

  • As a Community Safety Officer, you will be leading priority work areas, managing projects and delivering community safety services.
  • It will be your responsibility to lead co-ordinated multi-agency responses to complex cases of anti-social behaviour and situations that cause community tensions.
  • Using your experience and knowledge, you will carry out investigations, identify support needs, co-ordinate the responses of other agencies, implement early interventions and work with partners to take enforcement action when necessary.
  • You will be required to work with a wide range of agencies both internally and externally; and organisations including voluntary and community groups to address community safety. The current priorities include violence against women and girls, serious youth violence and hate crime.
  • You will be required to build relationships, influence a wide range of agencies and community groups to enable you to respond to community safety priorities.

    You will have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, or have equivalent relevant experience.
  • It is essential you have relevant specialist knowledge of identified community safety priorities; backed by evidence of practical experience of developing and implementing actions in response to these.
  • You will have knowledge of the anti-social behaviour tools and powers available to local authorities, and experience of using these effectively in practice.
  • You will have experience of using project management techniques to develop and managing projects to a successful conclusion.
  • Given the nature of this role you will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills, to build relationships and engage successfully with community groups and partner organisations.
  • Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
