Full Job Description

You will have a strong desire to support the Local Authority's objectives in ensuring it meets its duties under Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act and importantly, to enable people in our community to live safely, free from abuse and neglect.

You will be adept at assessing risk and thinking outside of the box to mitigate risks, and be skilled in the application of the Mental Capacity Act.

Your decisions will be well reasoned, defensible and recorded and you will know when to seek support. Our work is with people experiencing complex situations, and you will be adept at building partnerships within our organisation as well as with partner agencies.

Possessing professional competence and confidence, you will be able to hold our organisation and others to account.

A wide range of practice experience with adults and young people for transitional safeguarding would be considered relevant and the candidate would be encouraged to continue to develop professional special interests to support the work of the team.

You will be supported by frequent high-quality supervision and peer / leader support daily, alongside development opportunities.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at NPT is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process.

Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.

Applicants will need to be social work qualified and professionally registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales.

You will need a knowledge and working practice of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, to include outcome focused assessment and a working knowledge of the Mental Health Measures (2010), Continuing Health Care, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
