Full Job Description

Are you a nurse thinking about working in a different way, promoting health and wellness and interested in the opportunity to work with Families and Children within the Community setting?

This is an excellent opportunity for Registered Nurses from a variety of backgrounds and experience to develop their career in working with children and families. You will have the opportunity to deliver the 0-19 Public Health Programme for example developmental reviews, infant feeding, parenting and behaviour management advice. Whilst working within a borough based team you will be supported by our Clinical Team Leaders, Practice Assessors , Clinical Service Managers and our Safe Guarding Team.

Our 0-19 teams are innovative, enthusiastic and motivated to deliver the best healthy outcomes for children and families within Surrey. Excellent peer based support and supervision will be given while you develop your knowledge, skills and competence. In addition Children and Family Health Surrey are developing their Health visiting and School Nursing workforce and a Band 5 position will be a gateway onto sponsorship for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse.

Note: we do not offer UKVI sponsorship, and so all applicants require a current right to work in the UK., Undertake duties as allocated by the SCPHN.

Build and develop good working relationships the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Make contact with children, young people and families in a variety of community settings e.g. family homes , family centres, child health drop-ins and clinics.

To undertake development assessments when trained to do so.

To manage a delegated case load

Provide evidence based care to parents and children e.g. breast feeding, behaviour management

Identify and support children, young people and families through health needs assessments who have unmet health needs, provide support and targeted interventions and where necessary refer to specialist services

Take appropriate action in cases of suspected or actual child abuse, working within Surrey safeguarding childrens code of practice and procedures.

Attend child protection conferences/core groups as required and participate in safeguarding supervision

Assist in research and service audits

Supervise junior member and pre-Registration student nurses in the 0-19 team as directed by the SCPHN. Undertake junior staff PDR appraisals and direct line management.Participate in meetings as appropriate

Be prepared to be flexible within contracted hours

In accordance with the needs of the service, undertake other duties as required
