Full Job Description

"Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs that change deaf people's lives through emotional and practical support - because nobody with hearing loss should feel alone."

  • Provide inspirational leadership and robust management for a busy and diverse team

  • Lead projects and support the Charity in developing its services

  • Support the team with delivering support to our charity's beneficiaries

  • Ensure robust problem solving, decision making, and planning throughout the team


  • Headline tasks
  • Line-manage a team of people who support our hearing dog partnerships

  • Coach and mentor the team to develop their knowledge, skills, and performance

  • Supervise the team's continued assessment of, and response to, our beneficiary's hearing loss needs

  • Supervise support plans, dog behaviour modification plans, dog welfare plans, and ensure robust risk management

  • Shadow staff visits, attend community events, and visit hearing dog partnerships when needed

  • Conduct ongoing reviews of our processes and practices, and implement improvements

  • Resolve problems, escalations, and complaints

  • Lead project and development work

    The successful candidate will have strong leadership and management skills. They have advanced dog training and behaviour modification knowledge and experience. They have a caring approach to managing others and are values-driven in their decision making. They can manage highly varied and challenging workloads with a positive attitude and are comfortable communicating at all levels. They are able to work strategically towards long-term goals.
