Full Job Description

With a portfolio of promoted in-line medicines and a full pipeline, ViiV Healthcare is looking for a forward-thinking Competitive Intelligence (CI) manager to join the CI team. The HIV market is fiercely competitive; remaining aware of the dynamic external environment is important in support of the ambitious plan for ViiV company growth. This person will have responsibility for numerous aspects of ViiV competitive intelligence, supporting marketed and pipeline products (including long-range forecasts, medicine development strategy decisions & brand planning), licensing/business development & rigorous ongoing assessment of competitor company strategies. The successful candidate will be expected to leverage a wide range of competitor information sources including the strategies, tactics, and capabilities of competitors in R&D, Medical and promotional areas. In addition, they will help manage the resourcing and capabilities of a dedicated CI offshore team making sure that it is optimized to deliver maximum value and on-time delivery to stakeholders. In all instances the sourcing of information will be explicitly aligned to all industry policy and codes and aligned to our cultural pillar of Do The Right Thing. The successful candidate should be a self-starter ideally with a track record of translating competitive information to insight and propose and influence forward action, in partnership with a vast cross-functional group of stakeholders (including global and regional commercial teams, LoCs, medical, clinical, research, regulatory and legal). ViiV is looking for someone who thinks outside of the box with an appetite to drive innovation in how ViiV gathers, analyses and acts on CI, including the use of predictive CI to anticipate and mitigate competitor strategies. In this role you will

  • Act as an objective, critical and strategic advisor to ViiV based on deep expertise in current and future competitive drivers in the marketplace, interacting with a range of stakeholders
  • Innovate and embed ways of working to gather CI and develop key reports and action-orientated insights to maintain a best in class CI capability for ViiV. Make recommendations on competitor insights that prepare ViiV for a competitive marketplace
  • Develop holistic and predictive competitor landscape assessments based on a thorough understanding and analysis of internal and external business issues using robust CI sources and methodologies and ensure integration of intelligence and CI deliverables into brand planning, forecasting, evidence generation, digital engagement and strategic decision making.
  • Lead cross-functional scenarios analysis and competitive simulation workshops both at Global and key LOC level to drive action plans, leveraging external agencies to help design and deliver these workshops
  • Contribute to competitive intelligence planning and execution for key congresses with input from ViiV teams and/or third-party agencies. Drive ViiV team preparedness, ensure key intelligence questions developed, align onsite activities and consolidate key insights and disseminate post-congress
  • Ensure all CI research activities are conducted within appropriate code of conduct, compliance and ethical business practices; role-model and teach across ViiV.

    Bachelors degree in science, medicine, business, finance or information sciences
  • Experience in Competitive intelligence/external environment analysis; Business consulting; Marketing
  • Several years' experience in healthcare, in pharmaceutical (medical or marketing background) or management consultancy
  • Proven record in providing insightful and actionable competitive insights through innovative approaches
  • Experienced in a global matrix environment, across a range of functions, seniority, with the ability to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders
  • Fluency in understanding scientific, market and competitive data to spot patterns and opportunities to capture value for ViiV with respect to competition
