Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Assistant to join a small, niche team in anti-money laundering. You will support our centralised Compliance team, primarily servicing our UK and international client on-boarding processes.
This is an interesting global role where you will build key relationships with internal clients, dealing with fee earners in our UK and international offices including Hong Kong and Singapore. The role is heavily regulated and you will need to follow standard operating procedures.
You will work closely with the Compliance manager, Compliance Team Leader and senior compliance assistant who will provide full Compliance training for this specialist, niche role. This is a superb career opportunity for anyone looking at a vocation within the Compliance area.
Knowledge of anti-money laundering regulations is desirable but not essential, as full training will cover this area. Importantly an appetite to learn and contribute to the compliance risk based function is the key driver.
Key responsibilities within the first 6 months:

  • Assisting the client on-boarding processes by incepting new clients or amending existing records, performing searches and conflict checks in accordance with Compliance and Anti money laundering regulation and internal protocols


  • Assisting with the creation and maintenance of client records; opening client records within service delivery time scales

  • Assisting with projects as and when required

  • Liaising with other departments to request information / documentation in accordance with Regulation/procedure

  • Assisting with general data maintenance - amendments / deletions

  • As and when required, assist with other Finance Operations functions and assist with data quality exercises


  • Key responsibilities as the role develops
  • Sanctions screening

  • Assisting with Anti-Money laundering compliance and due diligence checks, including international client due diligence and international client inception vetting

  • Supporting the team with service reviews as and when required to aid any compliance issues or service delivery reporting

  • Assisting with team reporting

  • Supporting the business with enquiries and queries

  • Assisting management with routine Compliance enquires whenever required

  • Monthly reporting to Senior Compliance Management

  • Assisting with AML risk assessments

    Proven experience of working in a busy office environment

  • Competent IT skills in Microsoft applications

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to follow processes and complete work within a set timeframe

  • Ability to work well under pressure and to meet strict deadlines

  • Demonstrable excellent communication and organisational skills
