We're recruiting an experienced Catering Supervisor who is passionate about exceptional food and world-class customer service, and who can confidently oversee all Compass Group UK&I catering and service operations for Universities on a full time basis, contracted to 40 hours per week., The University of Sussex is seeking a dedicated and experienced

  • Conference and Events Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of hospitality services for various conferences and events across the university campus. Your primary duties will involve the setup, serving, and clearing of hospitality orders, ensuring all services are provided to the highest standards.

    Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operations of conference and event hospitality services.

  • Deliver, serve, and clear hospitality orders efficiently and professionally.

  • Liaise with clients and event organizers to ensure all requirements are met.

  • Manage a team of event staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent service.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards.

  • Maintain inventory and manage stock levels for event supplies and catering equipment.

  • Collaborate with other university departments to ensure seamless event execution.

  • Drive vehicles as needed for the delivery of event supplies and equipment.

    Previous experience in a similar role within the hospitality or events industry.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.

  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

  • Full UK driving license is essential.

  • A proactive, problem-solving attitude with the ability to work under pressure.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, particularly related to food service and event management.
