Full Job Description
We are seeking a Conservation Officer to join our dynamic Development Management team, working together to deliver high-quality developments, improve the quality of the built and natural environment across the district, and help make Teignbridge a healthy and desirable place to live, work and visit. Based in beautiful South Devon, you will be responsible for helping maintain the future of Teignbridge's 1800 listed structures and 35 conservation areas.
- Whilst this role is full-time, we will consider applicants looking for compressed work patterns or slightly less than full-time hours. We do things well and keep developing. Our team has worked hard to improve our performance over the last year, and we are now a high performing team. We are seeking a Conservation Officer to support our team in providing advice on heritage matters as well as managing your own case load of listed building applications, to deliver best practice in our decision making and excellent customer service. We offer a flexible working environment where everyone works in the office at least 50% of their week and may work the remainder at home should they wish. New staff are required to be office based for the first two months to help build relationships and ensure joined up working. - Have a professional qualification to degree level or equivalent in planning and/or building conservation.
- Have worked in similar roles providing advice and guidance to planners, professional agents and practitioners, and members of the public.
- Enjoy solving problems, finding creative solutions to challenges.
- Like helping people, remaining patient, level-headed and cool under pressure.
- Have a high level of accuracy and pay attention to detail.
- Communicate clearly to all stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Have a full driving licence and be able to undertake site visits around the District as public transport is limited.
