Full Job Description

This post is a combination of expansion and replacement, based at Singleton and Neath Port Talbot Hospitals. It supports the planned transition of the majority of elective orthopaedic from Morriston to Neath Port Talbot and provides continuity of Obstetric Anaesthetic provision in Singleton Hospital. In addition, there will also be the opportunity for successful candidates to undertake a variety of other subspecialty elective work. The on call commitment will be to the Obstetric rota at Singleton Hospital, but may also develop to include a proportion of out of hours cover for Neath Port Talbot Hospital. The frequency will be a maximum of 1:8., The successful candidate will join a team of 76 Consultants responsible for the provision of Anaesthetic services across the Health Board. The post will be based at Singleton Hospital, but will involve regular sessions at Neath Port Talbot Hospital and possibly Morriston Hospital as per development of the SBUHB COVID 19 recovery plan. At the current time this post is based at Singleton. We are reconfiguring our services to ensure they remain safe and sustainable in the future, and there may be occasions when you will be requested to work at other locations within Swansea Bay University Health Board. We reserve the right to transfer you, following consultation, to any of its locations, in accordance with the needs of the service. In such circumstances, a change of base may carry an entitlement to excess travel payments.
