Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to join our team.

The successful candidate will join a team of 16 friendly and dynamic Intensive Care Consultants. We are dedicated to developing the department, team and working towards the wider organisational goals and culture.

The current job plan is based around sessions in Anaesthesia, but single specialty ICM can be accommodated.

This is an exciting time to be joining the trust, as plans to reconfigure are under way. Currently there is an intensive care unit on each site (Halifax & Huddersfield) providing level 2 and level 3 care. Critical care will be consolidated to one site (Halifax) with a larger unit and increased bed base. This is a rare opportunity to shape the delivery of critical care within the Trust.

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust are proud providers of acute hospital services. Our Trust is very forward thinking and in the top decile digital trusts nationally. We value our staff and recognise that they are our greatest asset. The CQC rated us as Good in June 2018. In their report they confirmed that "staff were caring and provided compassionate care; patients were treated with dignity and respect and their privacy was respected; patients spoke positively about the care they received".

CHFT is nestled in the heart of the stunning Pennine hills - the area which inspired the works of the Bronte sisters. We're conveniently situated between the vibrant cities of Leeds and Manchester and surrounded by breath-taking scenery, places to visit, together with varied outdoor and indoor activities.

With an affordable housing market and fantastic schools - 17 junior schools and 2 high schools in the Calderdale and Huddersfield area have been recognised as outstanding by Ofsted- CHFT is perfect for family life as well as for professional development.

The Department of Health and Social Care has awarded capital funding to invest in local health services at both Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. This is a significant investment and an opportunity to enhance services for our populations in Calderdale and Huddersfield and West Yorkshire for generations to come.
