Full Job Description
CAMHS services across Durham & Tees Valley are looking for an experienced Consultant Applied Psychologist to join our services on a peripatetic basis to provide expert input into specialist assessment and formulation of young people accessing our services., The successful applicant will support MDT discussion and decision making in relation to outcomes of assessment for children and young people on the standard assessment pathway. For children and young people with more complex presentations on an enhanced assessment pathway, you will be pivotal to the assessment and subsequent MDT discussion and decision making. This may be a mixture of face to face and remote working, depending on clinical need.
The successful applicant will work alongside existing psychological professions colleagues within well-established teams, to help meet the needs of increasing numbers of children and young people seeking assessment for Autism and/or ADHD. The primary focus will be delivery of clinical services; it is essential that you have the skills, knowledge and experience to undertake the diagnostician role, including single clinician assessments. We welcome innovation and ideas for service improvement as we strive to continually improve the experience for families.
Additional skills and experience of working with children and young people with a learning disability would be an advantage, as there may be opportunities to support our LD CAMHS teams across the region.
There is a strong Psychology network across the Trust and within the CAMHS directorate. We provide training placements for the local DClinPsy and DCounsPsy courses, and encourage Psychology staff to contribute to relevant research opportunities.
