Working in collaboration with Consultant colleagues, the post holder will be responsible for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Adult Congenital Heart Disease across the region of South Wales., Applicants are invited to apply in Welsh. Any application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.
The UHB reserves the right to close this vacancy after 24 hours if a large number of suitable applications are received. Therefore, we encourage early applications to ensure consideration for this post.

To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa, unless you have permission to work via another route. Non UK / RoI candidates wishing to apply should self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship by visiting Work in the UK. If you are eligible for the Health and Care visa, application costs are lower and you do not need to pay the annual Immigration Health Surcharge.
The majority of the post holder's time will be spent in assessing and treating patients with ACHD, however there will be dedicated time for developing a special interest in ACHD that would complement the work of the department. This is a non-interventional ACHD centre, so the requirement is a non-interventional sub-specialty such as pulmonary hypertension, advanced disease/heart failure in ACHD, cardiac imaging. A commitment to general cardiology could be supported, subject to further discussion.
The appointee will be expected to support the expansion and strengthening of the ACHD clinical network and develop close links with colleagues at the level 1 centre in Bristol in the diagnostic and treatment planning facilitated through the MDT process.
Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.
