Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint an influential and transformational Consultant Clinical Endoscopist for the Endoscopy Service at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are inviting applications from experienced Clinical Endoscopists with proven competence in undertaking a range of diagnostic procedures to support the service in developing the speciality.

As a Consultant Clinical Endoscopist you will have a key role in the provision of clinical services and training of staff working within Endoscopy in conjunction with the clinical and management team. The successful candidate will also be a key team member for the delivery of JAG and GRS standards including the implementation of improved clinical pathways and driving innovation through the use of research and audit.

The post holder will be a clinical expert in the field of Endoscopy and will fulfil the 4 domains of the Nurse Consultant function:

1. Clinical Practice

2. Leadership

3. Facilitation of Learning

4. Evidence, Research, Development

The post holder will practice at an advanced clinical level and exercise high levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care. The post holder will provide clinical leadership, expert practice, and advanced knowledge, integrating research evidence into practice and contributing to/leading on research in this clinical field. There is an expectation that a maximum of 50% of the post holder's portfolio will be spent in direct autonomous clinical practice, having clinical responsibility for a defined cohort of patients and providing leadership for clinicians within this clinical area.

The post holder will monitor and improve standards of care through, supervision of practice, clinical audit, identifying quality improvement and research questions, disseminating research findings, national guidelines and promoting their translation into practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership.

The post holder will maintain and further develop a local and national profile as a Consultant Clinical Endoscopist by being a creative and innovative leader in developing services for this patient group.
