Full Job Description

Our perinatal and maternal mental health services have developed significantly over recent years with considerable focus on the expansion of psychological therapies. The psychology team continues to grow and we are now recruiting to a new leadership post to support and lead ourpsychological provision and wider service development. We are keen to recruit either to an 8c position or to a development opportunity for a candidate who is ready to start the transition to 8c. In this case, the role would commence at 8b but with an agreed and supported developmental pathway to achieve progression to Consultant level. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours) but we will consider requests for part-time working (minimum 0.8wte). You will be assisted in this role by a capable senior psychology team and a strong professional, clinical and operational leadership structure.,

  • To work as part of the Collective Leadership Team contributing to professional, clinical and strategic leadership across our range of Perinatal services and also the West Midlands Perinatal Mental Health Provider Collaborative.
  • To have specific responsibility for the development of Psychological Therapies in line with the ambitions of the Long-Term Plan.
  • To ensure the systematic provision and governance of high-quality psychological services across our range of Perinatal and Maternal Mental Health services and to ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of psychological practice.
  • To provide expert psychological input to own specialist caseload responding to the most severe and complex cases.
  • Provision of highly specialist professional consultation, advice and guidance on all aspects of psychological practice within the Perinatal Mental Health Services, as agreed.
  • Working in collaboration with Consultant level psychological staff in the Care Group to contribute to professional, strategic and clinical leadership to assure the continual development and provision of effective psychological services and psychologically informed provision across our range of services in the Care Group.

    Significant expertise relevant to the breadth of our perinatal, maternal and infant mental health provision including highly developed skills relevant for perinatal loss and trauma, severe and complex mental health problems and therapeutic support of parent-infant attachment relationships.
  • Knowledge of the in-patient context.
  • Experience of clinical and professional leadership and working at a strategic level.
