Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Psychologist to play a pivotal role in developing and leading a new adult psycho-oncology service for people affected by cancer in County Durham and Darlington., Lead on the development of a specialist psycho-oncology service for people affected by cancer in County Durham and Darlington.

Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop a business case for a sustainable service model, ensuring psychological care and support is embedded within all cancer pathways.

Deliver strategic leadership and guidance to senior management, service leads and multi-disciplinary teams working with cancer patients.

Maintain a highly specialist caseload including patient assessment, formulation, treatment and onward referral.

Work closely with psychology peers across the North East and North Cumbria to ensure consistency and equity of service provision across the geographical footprint.

You will have considerable experience of delivering complex psychological support programmes and of service development. You will be able to demonstrate effective working relationships across organisations and boundaries and be motivated to make a difference.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
