Full Job Description
We're looking for a consultant general adult psychiatrist to oversee clinical responsibility on one of our inpatient wards at the Cauldon Centre. The Caludon Centre is the main mental health inpatient facility in Coventry with a range of wards to suit clinical specialisms and interests. High-quality consultant appointments are key to creating quality services and ensuring senior clinical leadership, and your input will enable frequent and flexible review of patients and timely discharge. Our inpatient consultants receive an additional programmed activity (PA) and an increase in the usual annual study leave allowance from 10 to 15 days, pro rata for consultants working part-time., The role is based on a 10 PAs job plan with 7.5 PAs in Direct Clinical Care and 2.5 PAs in Supporting Professional Activities. Participation in the Consultant Psychiatrist on-call rota is also expected at a frequency of around one in fifteen, with responsibility for both inpatient and community adult and older-adult patients. You'll be the responsible clinician for inpatient beds and provide clinical leadership for the MDT on the ward, lead ward and management rounds, and undertake regular reviews of patients to support the bed management process and maintain high-quality care. You'll communicate with other wards, the crisis home treatment team, community teams and other stakeholders when appropriate. As a part of the role, they'll also be plenty of opportunities to get involved in:

- Regular continuing professional development
- Research and audit activities.
