Consultant Gynaecologist

This role is a new role with the aim to strengthen our team in gyanecology. The post holder is expected to have a broad range of skills to strengthen the gynaecology services. Applicants will be expected to have a range of skills including gynaecological scanning, operative laparoscopic skills and open surgery, outpatient procedures. Any additional subspecialist and specialist skills to complement the existing subspecialist services will be desirable., North Bristol Trust (NBT) is seeking to appointment a permanent Full time Consultant in Gynaecology .

The successful candidate will have a broad range of skills which will compliment and strengthen the existing service.

We are a large gynaecology department with a focus on complex benign gynaecology. We undertake 17 gynaecological outpatient clinics, 12 specialist gynaecology clinics and 18 gynaecology theatre lists per week in a dedicated gynaecology theatre suite.

We are the Southwest Centre for the placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) service, mesh removal service and the complex termination of pregnancy service. We work closely with urology, anaesthetics, interventional radiology, vascular services in the delivery of these services

We provide tertiary level gynaecology services in: Endometriosis (BSGE accredited Endometriosis Centre), Urogynaecology (BSUG accredited Urogynaecology Specialist Centre), Reproductive medicine, Recurrent miscarriage, management of fibroids, Vulval disorders

We have an excellent early pregnancy clinic run by nurse practitioners and sonographers with support from the medical team. We provide a 5 day a week emergency gynaecology clinic with dedicated ultrasound available. In ambulatory gynaecology we have regular colposcopy and outpatient hysteroscopy clinics (diagnostic and treatment).

At NBT we are part of a Joint Hospital Group with University Hospitals Bristol and Weston. We have a joint clinical strategy , a joint chair and chief executive. We are working together in Women and Childrens across the city to develop our services to provide the best possible care for women and their families.
