Applications are invited for this exciting new post that offers the opportunity to become a key member of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust teams working in a centre of excellence with the task of providing expert advice and leadership in the practice of stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. The post offers a wealth of opportunity to participate in clinical research and is based at The Christie and the NHSBT Manchester centre.

The post holder will join a growing team of consultants within NHSBTs National Cell, Apheresis and Gene Therapies (CAGT) division. They will provide clinical expertise and medical leadership in the supply chain of haematopoietic stem cells and immune effector cells, from the provision of unrelated donor cells, through the NHS Cord Blood Bank (NHS CBB) and British Bone Marrow Registry (BBMR), through procurement to processing and storage. They will also provide care for a wider group of patients treated by the therapeutic apheresis service in particular patients with graft versus host disease GvHD treated with Extracorporeal Photopheresis., The post holder will provide care for patients receiving transplant and cellular therapies (allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation) at the Christie, including patients undergoing clinical trials (e.g. IMPACT portfolio trials, academic and commercial). These clinical activities are based at the Christie site. The post holder will perform a weekly stem cell transplant late effects/ECP clinic, a cellular therapy clinic and be a key member of the Christie stem cell transplant team leading on donor selection and clearance for patients at the Christie and as a registry collection centre.

The postholder is expected to contribute to local and regional policy, quality and development of the BMT and CAR-T service. Through NHSBT, there is potential to lead nationally in a number of areas depending on the postholders interests.
