Applications are invited for the post of a Consultant Haematologist with a Specialist Interest in Stem Cell Transplantation and Myeloid Malignancy (Consultant Haematologist with 10 Programmed Activities).

King's are seeking a dynamic, energetic consultant to join the myeloid and transplant team. The post will be centred within the transplantation and cell therapy service with a sub-specialist interest in myeloid malignancy. Specialist interests will be discussed with the successful candidate however they will be expected to provide transplantation input for high risk myeloid and myeloproliferative disease. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of the clinical transplantation service including management of transplant complications such as infection and graft versus host disease. An interest in development of cellular therapy for myeloid disease would be encouraged as would a commitment to development and delivery of clinical trials within the myeloid and transplant portfolio. The role offers significant potential for the right candidate including the opportunity to lead on clinical trials, be involved in research, and develop a leadership role to
contribute to the development of a first class service.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be incorporated within the stem cell transplant and myeloid service and expected to provide:

Subspecialty clinic advice prior to stem cell transplantation (High risk myeloid malignancy including MPD) as well as routine delivery of myeloid outpatient clinics

Inpatient attending and on-call service

Follow-up of transplant patients within outpatient clinics

Oversight of long-term effects programme

Contribution to clinical trial delivery, leadership and development.

Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with King's College London / KHP

Maintenance of standards with regard to transplant and cell therapy programme as per accrediting and regulatory bodies (e.g JACIE/HTA)

Clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues

Contribute to the Audit programmes, Morbidity and Mortality, Clinical Governance programs and learning from Deaths.

Exercise professional leadership for all staff working in the specialty.

The transplant team at Kings provides one of the largest services for adult stem cell transplantation and cell therapy in the UK. This includes both autologous and allogeneic transplantation for a range of haematological malignancies with a specialist interest in myeloid disorders and bone marrow failure syndromes. CAR-T cell therapy has been established in the department since 2019 providing both routine indications and early phase clinical trials. In addition, the department has established a programme for autologous transplantation for autoimmune disorders and in collaboration with the sickle cell team across KHP is leading the development of a sickle cell transplant programme for adult patients

£105,504 to £139,882 a year per annum excl. London Zone Allowance.
