Full Job Description

We are looking for a colleague:To provide high quality consultant-delivered care to patients requiring our service,ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are met;

To provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and to supervise and train the junior clinical team and our specialty doctors;To be proactive in the Department's clinical governance agenda and take on leadership roles to support continuous learning and improvement, thereby abiding by the clinical and corporate governance policies of the TrustTo liaise with clinicians and managers within and outside the Department to address any issues arising that may affect the service;To participate in relevant audit and quality assurance processes., board rounds. The emergency assessment ward receives excellent Friends and Family feedback, and the nursing staff maintain a strong, caring team approach in a busy, high turnover environment. Feedback has particularly highlighted the excellent teamcommunication. The therapy and discharge team take a proactive role in discharge planning and can access a range of intermediate care services to support discharge to the community.

The Acute Medicine department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is a dynamic department known for taking a hands-on role in service development, quality improvement, education and training. Acute Medicine benefits from strong departmental and senior leadership and has easy working relationships with the hospital executive team through its work in development of our acute services.

Acute Medicine is well known as a nurturing and supportive department both for senior medical staff and for doctors in training. We work collaboratively with the well-established multidisciplinary teams of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and discharge co-ordinators on our Emergency Assessment Unit and Acute Medical Unit, all of which maintain a strong culture of safety and professionalism., The Acute Medicine department at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation trust is a dynamic department known for taking a proactive role in service development, quality improvement, and education and training. Acute Medicine benefits from a strong leadershipteam and has easy working relationships with the hospital executive team through its work indevelopment of our acute services.The Acute Medicine team provides care on the Acute Medical Unit and the short-stay Acute Medicine ward, EAU4, focussing on the first 48 hours of the patient journey. We also provide an Acute Medicine in-reach service in the Emergency Department during daytime hours. The general medical on-call work is shared with general medical colleagues from a range of specialties. We have excellent working relationships with the specialty physicians, with specialty advice easily available via a hot phone system.There is a well-established multi-disciplinary team structure in our clinical areas, with daily business MDT
