Acute Medicine is an exciting and essential pillar of urgent care at UHBW. We have ambitious plans to grow the service at the BRI. Key milestones aim to include the expansion and development of our Acute Medical Unit, Same Day Emergency Care Unit and optimising clinical pathways.

• Recruitment and retention premium up to £20,000 including an initial welcome bonus.

Acute Medicine is within the Division of Medicine, working closely with colleagues in the Emergency Department, Care of the Elderly, Respiratory Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Our Trust includes leading tertiary specialist services including the Bristol Heart Institute, St Michaels Maternity Hospital, Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre. We actively encourage our consultants to explore opportunities for cross-specialty collaboration., The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and direction for the multi professional team in the management of the acute medical patients on our Acute Medical Unit, Same Day Emergency Care Unit and Medical Take. It is expected that they will lead ward rounds, direct the management of patients, perform practical procedures, teach both junior medical and other staff, attend multidisciplinary meetings, take part in the governance activity of the department, participate in the management and administration of the service and liaise with other professionals both within and outside the Trust as required.
