The successful applicant will be an NHS employee and may therefore have contact with vulnerable service users. During the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been necessary to take significant steps to protect the health and safety of our staff, service users and those attending our sites. Unless exempt, we encourage and support staff to be vaccinated as this remains the best line of defence against COVID-19., In this role, you will collaborate with fellow Consultant colleagues to provide comprehensive mental health services across the Restormel area, serving a district population of approximately 118,000. This area is covered by one Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) with two consultant psychiatrists.
You will provide coverage for surgeries located in St Austell & Newquay area, with outpatient clinics held in both locations.
As a Consultant, you will offer clinical leadership within the team, focusing on the patients you personally engage with. Care coordination is not part of your responsibilities.
This role will include supporting resident Doctors. These trainees will primarily be involved in community-based activities but will also have on-call duties for inpatient services. You will serve as the Clinical Supervisor for the resident doctor, with dedicated time allocated each week for supervision.
