Full Job Description

The post is suitable for those candidates who wish to pursue a career in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and cardiac intensive care. This post is required to continue to develop and support the department for significant cardiac and thoracic surgical workload.

The on-call consultant rota will be undertaken in conjunction with other consultant colleagues to provide cover for emergency work including transplantation in cardiothoracic theatres, cardiology catheter labs and cardiac critical care areas.

There is a significant commitment to research, audit and training of Trust Grade doctors, specialist trainees and critical care practitioners.

We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our well integrated team.

The appointees will join the current team of fifteen adult cardiothoracic anaesthetists and intensivists who provide cardiothoracic anaesthesia, intensive care and some non-cardiothoracic anaesthetic services. Applicants should have the FRCA (or equivalent), possess or be eligible for the CCST in anaesthesia, and must have completed a minimum of one year subspecialty training in cardiothoracic anaesthesia and intensive care medicine, as well as experience in heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support.

As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.
