Full Job Description

The post holder will be expected to have Full GMC Registration, have membership of Royal College of Physicians or Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health, CCT accreditation and to be on the Specialist Register or eligible to be included with 6 months of the date of the advisory appointment committee. The post holder will have a generalist role with involvement in Cardiac Genetics, Skeletal dysplasia, General genetics/genomics and Fetal medicine. They will manage outpatient genetic clinics, provide consultant advice to ward referrals, attend MDTs/MDCs and urgent prenatal referrals. They will respond to the increasing needs of the Paediatric and Fetal Medicine Services within UHL, as the Perinatal Centre for the Central Newborn Network and also for East Midlands-East of England Genomic Laboratory Hub (EMEE GLH) and NHS Genomic Medicine Service

The post holder will be joining a forward thinking, energetic and research active team caring for Leicester, Leicestershire, Rutland, Northamptonshire/adjoining East-Midlands and East of England (East Midlands and East of England GLH led by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). The Leicestershire- Northamptonshire-Rutland (LNR) Genomics Medicine Service provides Clinical and Cytogenetic laboratory services to the population of 2.1 million. The LNR service is part of the East Midlands Genetic network/ East of England with joint regional audit meetings/ education committees. These include the center's, Nottingham and Cambridge. The Genetic Department is currently based on the Leicester Royal Infirmary site. The department has six clinics/consultation rooms, a separate waiting area and reception creating a more comfortable environment for the families and making it easier for patients to access the department. It also allows parallel consultant, registrar and genetic counsellor clinics.
