Full Job Description

  • Provision with Consultant colleagues of a Dermatology service to the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

  • Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness and the proper functioning of the department.

  • Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.

  • Any responsibility which relates to a special interest.

  • Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.

  • Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and for contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally.

  • Participating in medical audit, the Trust's Clinical Governance processes, appraisal, job planning and in CPD.

  • Involvement in research, where appropriate.

  • Managerial, including budgetary, responsibilities where appropriate

  • A willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels.

    We are looking for a consultant colleague to join our Dermatology team.The appointee will work closely with our existing consultant dermatologists, our dermatology and skin cancer CNS's and the other teams within the Trust to deliver high quality dermatological care. The day to day work of the successful applicant will be located at the West Suffolk Foundation Trust and this post is primarily in general dermatology/teledermatology for our cancer service. There is the opportunity for the right candidate to develop a specialist service such as paediatrics. The post holder will be supported by the wider team of CNS's and administrative staff. The role will deliver an outpatient and ward referral service. The on-call service operates between 9am and midday for weekends and bank holidays (1 in 5). Candidates should be eligible for inclusion onto the GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of their expected date of obtaining a CCT (or equivalent) at the time of the interview., #BeKnown at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.
