Full Job Description

Applications are invited for a Consultant Post in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine (10PA) at NUH. The post is available to start from Feb 2024 by the successful appointee.

Four GP Cluster-based Community Diabetes Services have been developed and receive consultant support.

Outpatient Endocrinology is provided in the Treatment Centre. Regional neurosurgical facilities are provided in NUH, and there are well established endocrine surgical services at the Trust and the Treatment Centre for thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal disorders. The service has well established links with paediatric endocrinology (paediatric transition), neurosurgery (joint pituitary clinic and monthly regional MDT meeting), thyroid surgery (including thyroid cancer MDT), adrenal disease (quarterly MDT) and gynaecology (quarterly MDT Turner's clinic). The endocrine team has recently established clinical service links with the Nottingham Gender Dysphoria Service.

There are excellent links with Departments of Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, Vascular Surgery, Pituitary & Endocrine Surgery, Infectious Disease (OPAT services), Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Nephrology & Transplant and Clinical Chemistry.

Main duties of the job

Acute Medicine on calls will be based at the QMC campus. Outpatient clinics will be delivered on both campuses and will include General Diabetes, Endocrine, Foot and Community Diabetes clinic.

We are looking for a colleague who is dynamic, flexible and willing to join a team who deliver high clinical standards in both inpatient and outpatient areas.
