Full Job Description
We are looking to appoint a full time Consultant Physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine to join our dynamic and developing team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.
Applicants will be expected to have completed, or be within six months of completing, Higher Specialist Training in General (Internal) Medicine with CCT & entry onto the Specialist Register.
You will have a passion and enthusiasm for providing the highest quality compassionate care, along with ambition & skills to drive improvement and engage others in the importance of this work. We anticipate the opportunity for the appointee to develop a sub-specialty interest within the role.
Responsibility for an average of 14 patients on one ward and a small number of outliers if required, is shared on an on/off ward rotation with other members of the team, i.e. one month "on ward" and 3 months "off ward", during which there are additional subspecialty clinics. Participation in the medical consultant acute on-call rota is expected, on a 1:16 basis. Weekday on call will consist of post take ward round for two bays in EMU totalling 12 patients. There are no evening ward rounds, and the rest of EMU/CDU/short stay post take is undertaken by the acute medicine team. During weekend on call, working hours are 08:00 to 14:00 Saturday and 08:00 to 16:00 Sunday with night on calls only on Sunday.
