Full Job Description
The ENT department covers Brighton, Worthing and QVH, a population of 750,000. In addition for Head and Neck cancer, Eastbourne and Hastings patients are treated in Brighton (400,000). All types of ENT treatment are undertaken including advanced otology & skull base surgery. Advanced audiology facilities are present on the RSCH site. The main OPD base is the RSCH with elective otology lists operations within Hurstwood Park, Haywards Heath and Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital. The ENT ward is shared with Neurosciences. The Childrens' Hospital is also on the RSCH site. At PRH there are OPD facilities and day surgery facilities. Worthing has a 5 day ENT department with OPD, Audiology and inpatient/day case facilities.The Worthing department benefits from a newly refurbished out-patients department shared with MFU. Medical student teaching is now a regular part of the department's workload., The clinical duties of the post include the following:
- Operating sessions
- Outpatient clinic
- MDT
- On call
- Consultant of the week
- Teaching and training of juniors On Call Commitment: Consultants work a 1:10 Consultant of the Week rota and 1:8 weekend on-call rota.
