Full Job Description
The successful candidate will join the existing team of ID & GIM consultants at North Manchester General Hospital . The post holder will work and liaise with the colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to ensure an appropriate, professional, and timely provision of care to patients. We have a thriving research portfolio, with opportunities to conduct / participate in research activity, Provision of inpatient care to patients with infections on a specialist infection ward based at NMGH.
Provision of NMGH based infection consult, AMS and bloodstream infection service supporting all NMGH based clinical services including critical care
Provide consultant support for the Manchester Home IV service, alongside microbiology colleagues in MFT.
Participation in multi-disciplinary teams including HIV, Hepatitis, Neuroradiology/ID, inpatient, complex infection MDT meetings
To conduct Consultant-led post-take ward rounds in General Internal Medicine and provide senior medical cover for patients on a 1 in 3 hot week basis directly reviewing each, supervising and discussing the work of junior medical colleagues, and leading the post- ward round MDT meeting.
To work closely with the colleagues in related clinical areas, in particular the emergency department, other medical and acute surgical specialties and with colleagues in primary care and those at the interface e.g. the primary care access line.
To show clinical leadership in patient care, service development and clinical governance.
To supervise junior doctors and contribute to the education and training of staff from a variety of disciplines.
To work co-operatively and effectively as part of the wider GUM & Internal Medicine teams, being held to account for clinical, service development and training outcomes, and support the research interests of the departments.
